About Salgin Kalappura
Salgin Kalappura is an emerging music director in the Indian music industry. He introduced himself to the world of music four years ago by making a sensational debut with Padmabhushan K.S. Chithra in the album Emmanuel Ponpaithal, and since then, his compositions have started flying across continents.
This was his first milestone in this industry, and the second one was even more blessed and colorful with Padmavibhushan Dr. K. J. Yesudas for Tharangini. This Onam song holds another golden mark: that the duo Lyricist Sreekumaran Thampi and singer Dr. K. J. Yesudas joined once again after 36 long years of waiting.
Apart from this, as a beginner, Salgin got an opportunity to work with Sujatha Mohan and Swetha Mohan for festival albums in the same year.
“Ente Ponnu Swami” A Hindu devotional album penned by Rajeev Aalunkal and voiced by the legend M.G. Sreekumar added another golden feather to his crown. The trio M.G. Sreekumar, Rajeev Aalunkal, and Salgin Kalappura made this work an exceptional hit. M.G. Sreekumar voiced two songs; both are super hits in the industry. Another composition from Salgin is the album “Sthuthi,” which was also penned by Rajeev Aalunkal, voiced by Sujatha Mohan, and was also an industrial hit.
Working with famous singer Madhu Balakrishnan for the album “Ayyanethedi,” written by Dr. Kiruthiya and released by Symphony, led him to the Tamil industry. A total of three songs have been presented to the audience in this combo. Working with Cochin Strings and Chennai Strings opened Salgin the vast door to the South Indian music industry.

In his four years of journey, he has worked with legends of the music industry, and currently his crew members are flavoured and nourished in the shade of legends like A. R. Rahman, Ilayaraja, Vidyasagar, etc. This gives him an advantage in delivering the music in its finest mode.This experience helped Salgin to make his works so special. His upcoming works are also with this powerful crew which includes a Malayalam film (Yet to Declare) and albums in Telugu and Arabic.
Salgin, not only a music director, also tried his luck in direction and screenplay for a few music albums and ad films. He is the co-founder of the Dubai-based firm “Heybro media…,” which provides a one-stop solution for all the musical needs, including production and distribution.
Ponnolathalam, Thiruvonapponveyil, Emmanuel Ponpaithal, Ente Ponnu Swami, Sthuthi, Khalbil Ninnum, Hrudayangal Onnay, Swamiye Thedi Njan, Paparahithan, etc., are some of his skill-glazed works.
